Story
My name is Wendy White, I am a Registered Nurse and I live in NSW. I am really pleased to be given another opportunity in March 2015 to volunteer in Nepal with Open Heart International as part of the Burns Reconstructive Surgical team. This will be my 6th year to be involved in both direct patient care working along side the local Nepali team, and delivery of educational sessions and clinical updates.
Leaving my home, family and work commitments here and being involved with this project reminds me each time of the many things we so often take for granted. The surgery and care provided (all at no cost to the patient and their family) truly can be life changing and we are lucky to witness this first hand. The need is great and I want to give my time and skills to help out again this year .
Your donation will provide funds which will be used towards travel, surgical supplies / equipment and direct patient care expenses (including transportation from remote regions - (it is common for patients to travel several days by bus), medications and patient meals / accommodation). I would be very grateful if you would consider supporting me and the project again for 2015
